Acoustics / Noise level

"Even with the very low background noise levels measured today, the predicted level of 22dBA from the power plant would still be 10dBA below the background noise level in the community" - BKL Acoustics Consultants

The Ashlu Green Power Project retained BKL engineering, consultants in acoustics, to conduct studies to determine if any noise created by the turbines would exceed normal background noise in the Upper Squamish residents area. They concluded that potential turbine noise would be lower than existing background noise.

The following letter outlines the Noise Assessment for Proposed Ashlu Power Plant, and the Environmental Noise Assessment for Ashlu Creek Green Power Project.

If you live in Squamish and are uncertain what the exact noise levels from the power plant will be when the Ashlu Green Power Project is completed, the easiest comparison would be with the similarly sized Lower Mamquam IPP. The power plant cannot be heard from the bridge above the generating station, and is entirely inaudible less than 2 km away at Raven's Plateau at the far end of Valleycliffe. Check for yourself.
